Celebrating a Life…

The Christmas Season is a difficult one to have to say goodbye to a loved one, family member, friend or colleague. Yet, that is exactly what we are faced with after the passing of Founder and President of D.G. Meyer Inc.—Donald Meyer— last week.

We cannot forget our blessings though, and we would like to thank the many friends and relatives from this community, around the state, and all those who traveled from afar, to pay their respects and say farewell at the Visitation and Memorial Service held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel last Saturday afternoon. The large number of  attendees reflected Donald’s lifelong residence in this area—from childhood and school friends of his, to the vast number of people his life has touched during a long life of involvement both in work and community. To the many people who stopped by to share their memories and offer their condolences, we say thank you. To all who have commented on the web site, his memorial page, or other social media, we extend our heartfelt thanks. To those who honored Donald Meyer with flowers or donations, we offer our gratitude. For the flood of cards, letters, emails and calls, we are grateful to each and every one of you, and hope you are patient with us if we don’t get back to all of you right away.

Donald G. Meyer—Founder and PresidentThe Memorial Service, lead by Mark Spivey, Chaplain at Halifax Health- Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, was standing room only. It was warm and upbeat, a celebration of a life well lived. A wonderful and heartfelt eulogy was delivered by Elliot “Dean” Bazzle, Commercial Supervisor of DGM, partner and long time friend. It was a moving commemoration of a man who always willingly provided guidance, mentoring and assistance to those who shared his strong work ethic and passion for business, as well as a farewell to a beloved friend. The entire family extends its deep appreciation to both men.

As the Holiday Season unfolds, let’s take a little time to count the blessings of our family and loved ones, to be thankful for all that we have, and to remember those who are always in our hearts though they are no longer with us. Be at Peace. Blessings to all…

Thank You.
